News Report "Class Assignment"

On 11 February, early in the morning bomb blast occurred on Railway track near Saddar area. Fortunately there was no passenger train on the track at that time. It happen when people going to their offices are crossing the railway track. 15 died at the spot while 25 people were injured.5 injured were sent to Jinnah Hospital other were sent to National Hospital.
Train schedules are disturbed. Injured M.Jamil Khan's mother said in an interview: "Nobody is safe here,God knows what will happen to our country. Government is just passing there time."
People were chanting slogans against the government and they want government to take serious step against terrorism.

POOR COMPUTER LIBRARY PROBLEM FOR STUDENTS

In Jinnah University for Women students are facing problem related to internet library there are few number of computers, student have to wait for such a long time to do there work and once they got chance poor internet service make student irritated.
Shamila Abbasi, student of D-Pharmacy, Jinnah University for Women rage on poor internet service in computer library. She said: “9 computers are not enough to fulfill the needs of thousands of students studying in JUW.” She added:”Since morning it’s my 6th round to the computer library for the sake of printout only.”
                     “I do not have internet facility at my home that’s why I’ve come here, but this library is of no use”. said Hareem Fatima, microbiology. Firstly we have to wait several hours for our turn, when luckily we get chance to use computer, electricity problem, poor net service, noise and congested area makes the scenario more worst.
                   Maria Sheikh, Political Science department said:” I think administration has no concern with student problems; they are only busy in placing useless restrictions.”

Seminar on Citizen Journalism

Wow! a good news and a mast opportunity for citizen who think that they are capable enough to do reporting. A trustworthy channel "Dawn News" inviting people to share there different experience with each other. Dawn News "want to see the world through your lens."



New up coming show "Citizen Journalist" producer and anchor of this show Mr.Owais Mangalwala 
(Documentary Film Maker) working with Dawn from 2007. On 29th January 2011 he gave a lecture to the student of  Mass Communication of "Jinnah University for Women" on Citizen Journalism. He explain it as: 
"When people (audience) use the tools of journalism for interaction with each other"
 According to him citizen must know about basic knowledge of democracy and people get democracy when they have there own views and most importantly the sharing of there views.Our society need to be educated first to get there rights and raise questions to all the problem they are suffering from.And a society have to became informative. A positive change can bring in a society when citizens are educated and have knowledge of democracy.


 What is Citizen Journalism all about?

  • It is sharing of Experiences: You can share your experience and your personal accounts through which your audience get bounded.
  • Sharing of Opinion: Giving your opinion on something what you see or feel on some topic.
  • Sharing of Discovery: Own perspective on any breaking news it is about other experiences and you are sharing it.

What is the need of Citizen Journalism?




  • When media is doing its job properly.




  • To highlight  non highlighted issues.




  • To do positive promotion of some thing.








  • Important points kept in mind while working for Citizen Journalism:
    • The necessary is to be real ( point of view)
    • Events all around us don't wait for main events, report common event but have an eye to find some thing unusual in it.
    • Create your own point of view and express it from your own unique idea.
    • Don't ever thing your topic is boring or unworthy. Each and everything is important only you have to be creative.
    • Describe something properly but don't exaggerated it.
    • Accurate, make sure that facts have backing (statements) survey is must.
    • Writing style matters usage of words.
    • Make your own code of conduct.
    • Avoid plagiarism.
    • Learn news writing format.
    • Find mentor.
    • Take each and every feed back positively thing on those criticism.
